Catalonia, since 1960, with a significant agricultural activity, has developed an important agricultural machinery industry, which has in the province of Lleida, the main focus of activity.
In 1996, a group of Catalan firms, with the support from the council of Lleida, and the Department of Trade and Industry of the (Generalitat) Government of Catalonia started the first cooperation strategies , with the establishment in 1998 of the Association of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers and Exporters of Catalonia [FEMAC].
Currently a total of 48 “partners” are members of the Agricultural machinery cluster in Catalonia, among which are part, manufacturers, research centers, suppliers, engineers, specialist consultants, fair organizations, universities, and Government and national SME support Agencies.
