On February 28, 2018, the first working meeting between Mexico and Guatemala was held within the framework of the INNOVACT project with more than 80 participants, including national and regional authorities of both countries, private companies, academia, researchers and associations that represent groups of private companies, which are part of the ecosystem of each of the selected value chains.
Different presentations were held about the importance of innovation and cooperation between both countries. Two European experts, the first one with great experience in Agriculture and Information Technologies , Mr. Enric Pedros, Cluster Manager at FEMAC, spoke about Innovation and cooperation in the agri-food sector, specifically about the challenges of digitization, while the Energy expert (Vlasta Krmelj) spoke about the experience and good practices of cross-border cooperation in the Energy Value Chain in Slovenia. Both experts helped to guide the debate and propose approaches to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the selected value chains.
In this event, the sensitization of the different actors of Mexico and Guatemala was achieved, they were motivated and eager to learn from the different European experiences in territorial cohesion, innovation and cross-border cooperation in order to develop different action plans.
