The project aims to develop a team capable of automatically identifying and counting the number of insects captured in a standard trap. This monitoring would be carried out through the application of optical techniques. The development of the detection and counting algorithms will allow the specific analysis of the acquired data.
The results of the project will allow to implement an innovative technological solution to improve the efficiency of pest control in agricultural production. It will include the definition of complex systems and algorithms necessary for discrimination and counting in tenths of seconds of insects. The Polytechnic University of Catalonia, SECPHO, Comercial Quimicas Masso S.A., and Equips i Desenvolupaments Electrònics S.L. collaborate in the project.
