The XIII FEMAC Strategic Immersion reinforces the shared vision of the future of the Catalan agro-industrial sector

On May 7 and 8, FEMAC held the XIII Strategic Immersion, a meeting that brought together companies, technology centers and agents of the ecosystem of agricultural means of production in Catalonia with the aim of reflecting jointly on the main strategic challenges of the sector and defining lines of action shared for next year.

The day was attended by Diego Torres, who offered a presentation focused on the importance of business strategy in changing environments, especially in the case of family businesses. During his speech, he focused on the need to professionalize management, anticipate generational relays, define long-term visions and build organizations capable of adapting to new global contexts without losing their identity.

One of the central moments of the immersion was the participatory dynamic “Towards where we recall?”, moderated by Alberto Pezzi of ACCIÓ, which was developed in line with the conclusions derived from the study of strategic updating of the agricultural production media sector in Catalonia prepared by PwC.

The participants were divided into different working groups, each of which addressed a specific strategic area of the sector. From this collaborative work, specific challenges, priority actions, potential tractor projects and good business practices were identified. Subsequently, a representative of each group presented the conclusions to the rest of the attendees, generating a space for debate and shared vision about the future of the sector.

Among the main areas worked, issues such as the need to gain global scale and competitiveness, promote differentiation through innovation and specialization, move towards business models based on data and added value services, reduce the technological adoption gap in the agricultural sector, strengthen technical talent and generational change, as well as define selective internationalization strategies.

During the sessions, aspects such as the need to share services and data, facilitate access to technology, strengthen the connection between manufacturers and farmers, attract young talent, promote technical training and promote more agile and prepared business structures to compete internationally were put on the table.

The XIII Strategic Immersion has served, once again, to consolidate FEMAC as a space for reflection, collaboration and joint construction of sectoral strategy, strengthening alliances between the different actors of the Catalan agro-industrial ecosystem and promoting new opportunities for cooperation and innovation.
