I3-4-BIOFERTILIZERS

The Project

I3-4-BIOFERTILIZERS aims to promote interregional cooperation, support the scaling up, demonstration and commercialization of a series of investments in biofertilizer innovation across Europe. Each identified business case is based on a prior needs analysis that demonstrates the disruptive potential of these cases and their possible contribution, once on the market, to supporting sustainability and the circular economy in agriculture.

The Project is led by the BETA Technology Center and in which the company DESARROLLOS AGROQUÍMICOS, SA, both partners of the Cluster, participates.

The Project has an expected duration of 3 years, and the FEMAC Cluster will play a relevant role and will be in charge of mapping the main stakeholders, their needs, and will analyze the state of the market, trends and dynamics in the biofertilizer sector. It will coordinate the setup of a collaborative network and a "living lab" for the realization of pilot projects and the presentation of business cases for the innovative production and use of biofertilizers and sustainable practices in Spain. It will also help the consortium to find representatives and other support collaborators for the different advisory activities. FEMAC will help to explore synergies with other related EU-funded projects and initiatives, as well as to transfer knowledge on "the project results" through dissemination activities within its Catalan ecosystem and beyond.

Financial Support To Third Parties

The Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) initiative within the project aims to overcome financial and technical barriers faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in adopting biofertilizers and implementing circular, sustainable agrifood practices. Coordinated by CLUST-ER, FSTP provides cascade funding to 30 SMEs across Greece, Italy, France, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, and Hungary. Each SME receives a financial voucher of €60,000 to develop feasibility studies, investment plans, and go-to-market strategies, complemented by comprehensive technical and advisory support. This support includes access to mentors, expert networks, pilot testing infrastructures, and decision-support systems, enabling SMEs to innovate and scale their sustainable agriculture solutions effectively. The ultimate goal is to enhance the interregional value chain of biofertilizers and promote a resilient, circular bioeconomy in the European agricultural sector.

The call will be open from September 1, 2025 to November 14, 2025 at 17:00 CET.
